Vancouver, BC – August 6, 2025 – CAI Capital Partners (“CAI”) is pleased to announce that its portfolio company DWB Consulting Services Ltd. (“DWB” or the “Company”) has successfully merged with Chartwell Resource Group Ltd. (“Chartwell”). The transaction brings together two highly respected firms with complementary sector strengths and geographic footprints. The combination creates British Columbia’s leading multidisciplinary consulting firm specializing in environmental and resource management, mapping, engineering, and sustainable forest stewardship services for clients across the natural and built environment.
Chartwell’s strong presence in the Lower Mainland region and longstanding utility relationships is a natural fit with DWB’s strength in the Northern and Central regions of British Columbia, and together, the combined platform will now offer provincewide coverage with a team of nearly 300 employees including 250 technical professionals. Employees from both organizations remain significant shareholders in the combined business.
Chartwell is led by Cliff Roberts who will assume the role of CEO for the combined business of DWB and Chartwell. Kevin Bedford, DWB’s current CEO, will assume the role of Executive Vice President and will continue to be a key leader of the combined organization. The two organizations plan to unify under a single brand over time; however, in the meantime, the combined organization will maintain the trusted and familiar Chartwell and DWB brands.
“Merging our teams will not only strengthen our business, but also create new opportunities for our people, our clients, and our future,” said Kevin Bedford “As one company, we can better share and grow our industry knowledge, talent, and relationships.”
“This merger empowers us to meet the evolving needs of our clients while continuing to innovate and future-proof our business,” said Cliff Roberts. “Our priority is to ensure our clients, partners, and employees continue to receive the support they need, while remaining steadfast in our commitment to the communities we serve through open, honest communication during this transition. I’m incredibly proud to lead this new chapter and the talented team we’ve brought together.”
“DWB and Chartwell are highly complementary, and their joining forces represents a strategic consolidation of strengths that will increase market reach, deliver unmatched value to customers and propel the combined business to even greater heights.” said Curtis Johansson, Partner at CAI. “Given their impressive individual achievements, I am very much looking forward to seeing what these companies can do together.”
Debt financing for the transaction was provided by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. DWB was advised on the transaction by Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, MNP Transaction Services, Marsh McLennan, and HUB International.
